Swim
Comments: Swim went well for me. I was excited to complete it in under 15 minutes What would you do differently?: I am still hanging on the sides of the pool a little bit after the later laps. I want to work on that. Seeing as how I couldn't even swim 2 laps 4 months ago to finish the entire thing front crawl was very exciting!!! Transition 1
Comments: I had a good tranistion. I kept my suit on the only problem was that my pants got stuck a little but other than that very smooth. What would you do differently?: Wear shorts instead...it was a tough call 55-60 degrees and very windy Bike
Comments: I have a mountain bike that I left my big fat tires on. I think with that and mixed with the strong head wind it slowed me down quite a bit. What would you do differently?: I am not quite ready to invest in a new bike yet but thinner tires, new toe clips, and areobars are in the near future. I also would like to get some longer rides in. The longest training ride I did was about 1:15 I would like to get in multiple rides of 1:30 - 2:00 before the next race. Transition 2
Comments: I biked and ran with the same shoes on so that part was easy. I liked doing it because it helped with the transition. What would you do differently?: I was so concerned with yelling out my race number (because my body markings were covered by my clothes) that I missed the whole get off bike here tranistion. Luckily one of my good friends yelled get off your bike before it was too late and I got DQ'd. The only real problem in my first set of transitions. I can deal! Run
Comments: The run was good but tough. My legs were exhausted after the windy bike. I did well. Running is my mental block. My goal was not to walk during the entire run and I accomplished that. What would you do differently?: I need to build in longer runs to my training. The longest I did was 34 minutes. I would like to build up to atleast 45 minutes after this. Mostly because I now realize that the longer runs are as much about building the metal capacity to finish the race as well as actually doing the running. Post race
Warm down: Walked around watching and cheering other racers. Stretching both after the race and later at night. What limited your ability to perform faster: It was my first tri...just getting through was enough!!! Event comments: This was a great first tri for me. They allow 400 participants so it is not too big. Plus the deciscion to swim inside was a good one for me. The courses were well marked with lots of volunteers to direct you. Plus considering it was April in Wisconsin the weather while a little misty and wet was fairly decent. I think the high temp ended up being around 60. Last updated: 2004-01-05 12:00 AM
