I'm doing the full marathon.  Who's in for the full or half?

FYI, the weather looks like it's gonna be pretty cold.  Lows 20s and Highs upper 30s.  Partly sunny.  So, I think I'm going to wear capri length tights, arm warmers, and gloves (yes, i'm a weenie).

Hope everyone is having a healthy taper!!

I'll be there, doing the full dressed as Wilma flintstone. Along side me will be Betty (smoak) and Pebbles (comet)  See you there!

I'm in too.  Bib #2505 & only 2nd marathon.
Last forcast I heard was upper 20's at start with high upper 40's & sunny.  Plan to wear long-sleeve base layer under my UM Alum T-shirt, beenie & ball cap, and gloves.  Will walk to Start with jacket & sweat pants to be left at bag check.
Don't care for lemon-lime Gatorade & like to do gel before Mile 10, so I'm also wearing my trusty FuelBelt for my hydration/nutrition.

I'm slow & lingering bad toe (from Endurathon HIM) has limited my training some.  Was hoping for better time but I've decided to drop back to 4:45 pace group & survive play it by ear.

Good Luck to all!

In for the half, but with my recent (last 2 weeks) IT band issues my taper has consisted of a 12 mile run/walk (due to pain, not a believer in the Jeff Galloway system), a couple biking sessions, and a 5 or 6 mile trail run. Hopefully my IT Band will hold up for the 13.1 on Saturday. Cold weather should just numb my legs anyway.

Yeah, unfortunately my knee has been giving me some aggravation.  I've been resting this week so maybe things can heal a bit.   My brother-in-law is a PT and is going to tape my knee.  I'll hope for the best and pray I won't hobble to the finish. Tongue out

They're now predicting a hard freeze (upper 20's for 2-3+hrs) for Fri night/Sat AM.  Brrrrr!!!!!!!
Need to add a layer- & watch for black ice on those roads.

I'm in for the half. I am not a fan of the cold! I will be wearing full length tights, long sleeve base layer and a thrift shop sweatshirt. The sweatshirt will be tossed around mile 2 i imagine.

Don't forget gloves & a hat.  Predictions now are mid-20's for the start.

This is going to be my first full marathon. To bad the temps had to drop on us. I am really looking forward to this run and hopefully things will go well. Good Luck to everyone!

So how'd everyone do?  Finished ??with 3min neg split, though just off my goal time.  ?I think I can do better 'cause I didn't pace well or stay hydrated (despite the cold).

Ran the Half goal was a 1:45, finished in 1:49.  The cold was a killer, feet were numb for first 3 miles which really threw my stride off.  Had to stop and stretch at the 8 mile mark but I thought it was well organized with plenty of water.  Really enjoyed the race.

Did the full in 3:49.  I was so impressed with the race support.  Aid stations with plenty of fluids and good support.  The volunteers were great.  I saw one police officer who ripped this driver a new one for driving into the lane where the runners were running!!!  "What the he!! are you thinking buddy, can't you see there are runners on the course?!"  she said.  The police were great with protecting the runners.  This was my first marathon and I will for sure want to do it again next year.

I hope everybody had a great race. Perfect weather should have meant a lot of PR's. Now you know your Daniels vdot to extrapolate into training paces for your triathlons next season.

Happy recovery,
jamie

Anyone heard about the timing issue?  Posted results ended up around a min longer than the prelim printouts.  Nothing to a glacially slow slug like me, but to one poor runner posting elsewhere its meant not BQing.  I wonder if this was due to the timing mats getting flipped up at the start.

Yes, I noticed this as well.  My time at the results station had it posted as 3:49.  When the final results came out on the internet, my time showed 3:50.  My watch time showed 3:50, so I'm gonna have to go with that.  I'm not going to complain.  It was my first, so I didn't have grand expectations.  I felt like I did everything well Saturday.  But yeah, kinda sucks for someone who's time was going to  make or break a BQ.  I didn't know it was a timing mat issue.  Oh well, great job on everyone who participated in the half and full!!!!

I think the timing issue was due to them originally reporting the time crossing the "name the finisher" timing mat that was about 100-200 yards out rather than the actual finishing mat.

I had a pretty good 10 mile race for me, but as you can see in my race report, the knee gave out and I had to walk the last 5k. Kind of disappointing when I felt completely prepared. The massage in the medical tent was pretty great though (and the chicken broth that they gave me to warm up!!).

Doesn't make sense in my case.  My Prelim Result was 1:02 faster than my Final result, but that 1:02 difference was in my 1st 10k.  Last Half time Prelim was same as Final.

Sorry 'bout your knee.  Hope you're feeling better soon!

This was a great race for me. I broke 2 hours for the first time in the 1/2. The race was really well organized. My final time was only :30 off of my preliminary.

I agree the police officers did a great job keeping the traffic off us. I also say an officer giving a motorist what for. The car was trying to cross the run course, and the police officer was holding back traffic. When the car tried to pull out, the officer said something like "I told you to stop! I will pull you out of that car!!" All happend about 25 yards in front of a pretty large group I was running with. I made sure to thank the officer when I ran past. Wanted to shake his hand, but he was pretty busy keeping that guy in line.
I ended up making my BQ time, so I was pretty happy for my first marathon. It was a great day.
