Subject: Bike computer recommendation -- CatEye Astrale 8?

I'm sure this topic was up some time ago, but I couldn't find it.  Need recommendation.

I'm currently using a a CatEye MSC 2Dx HMR/timer/odometer.  It's a watch-liked HRM that receives heart rate signals from the chest strap, and when mounted on the bike bracket, also receives signals from the magnetic sensor mounted on the wheel for distance/speed info.  It does not provide info on cadance.  I found it somewhat hectic to use when I have to remove it from the bracket when I need it for running/swimming.

I have a tight budget.  Saw at performancebike.com that the CatEye Astrale 8 seems to be a good bike computer.  Anyone has good/bad to say?  Another other suggestion on something similar?  Thanks for your help.

I bought the Astrale bc it seemed to be the BT fave at the time. I love it. Not too har dto work, and the cadence is what has made me go from a shitty cyclist to a less shitty cyclist in a few short months.

I have 3 Astrale 8's: Road Bike; Tri Bike; Cyclocross Bike.

I love the computer and only wish it had a mutli-wheel setting so I didn't have to buy 3 of them.

That's what I have on mine and I like it. Easy to deal with on the fly to check time, ave. speed, distance. It does not have any heart rate monitoring capability, but I'm so new at this all I'm worried about is time in the saddle.

Put me down as a satisfied Astrale 8 user. Never had a problem with it.

I've got an old astrale 8 (as in 12 years old) and it's been fine for me.  I ve seen the new specialized one that will tell you average and max cadence as well, which would be very usefull for me, but it's twice the price of the astrale.

The astrale has certainly been excellent value for money for me.
