Pre-race routine:

Got there early like all my races and try to get a good spot in transition. I guess it wasn't early enough because there were a fair number of people already there.
Event warmup:

I ran the opening run twice only to use the woods at the turn around point as a washroom. I ain't standing in line for 30 minutes while other people are using the washroom as changerooms:/

Comments:

What a screwed up run that was. First problem is that everyone wants to be at the front of the group when the race starts. That means slower runners line up at the start line beside and infront of faster runners and that holds people up. Well, that's what happend to me. I had to put a fair amount of effort to get around those people to get to the front. Second problem came when at about 4 or 5 minutes we were still running and hadn't turned around yet. After 7 minutes or so the front runners new something was wrong and all I heard was "f*#@k, turn around, wrong way". Great,, I'm at the back again. So the only thing that I could do was run hard to limit my losses but by the time I got to transition I was toast.

Comments:

I got up "the beast" ok but I just couldn't get going on the flats up top. I think I was tired from my "all out" run.
I don't think I can forget that hill only because I seen one person walking her bike up and crying and all the other people I seen that still had there bike in the large chain ring at the front. You have a 30 or 34 tooth ring,, why not use it?
What would you do differently?:

I have a Cervelo P2 now so that could help on the flats? It should be faster then the road bike I had at the time
Transition 2

Comments:

I couldn't find my spot in transition, lol.
Run
  • 31m 15s

Comments:

I felt good. I think only 1 or 2 people passed me. I also think it was the first race that I didn't get chicked in the final run, haha.
What would you do differently?:

More run training. Running right after the bike is still a problem for me.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk around and eat the free food

What limited your ability to perform faster:

that messed up first run

Event comments:
