What are you wearing to support yourself when running?  I have tried running with tights commando, but unless I wear something to support them, I feel uncomfortable.  I have tried to run with underarmor briefs and that still doesn't help as they seem to drop and I lose the support.  Is there such thing as a moisture wicking jock?????

I'm a big fan of the Nike Pro compression underwear; they seem to do the trick for me. They have great support and the length on them is enough to prevent my big clyde tighs from chaffing.

Just one post, come on guys, are you all commando or what.  I am starting to believe that I am the only one who has the problem.  Maybe too old and used to having the support to keep the boys safe.   :-)

If it helps, my husband wears tri shorts under his running tights.

Seems to work well for him.

In the past I went commando, just bought a new set of winter tights.  Will try the under armours, they are my favorite in the summer.

If running for less than 30 minuntes I use running shorts from with 5" inseam. Any longer runs I find trishorts are more supportive and much more comfortable. If running in the winter I use Asics running tights with my shorts over the top.

Hope that helps.

Maybe this should be another thread, but I don't own "running shorts", so are those that much different and lined with support, or ?????

I am trying to get started again after a long layoff because of work and injuries.  I have the bike and swim pretty good, but I want to be MUCH better on the run and it takes the proper gear or you end up with sore areas and won't run because of it.

Any and all help appreciated.

I wear Nike dry fit shorts with underarmor boxer briefs underneath. The additional lining in the shorts is minimal, and doesn't provide much additional support, but I have not had any issues. I also find Zoot tri shorts to be more supportive, but only wear them running as part of an event or brick workout.

I wear my Superman Undies.  LOL thats what my wife calls them.  I actually was looking for something that would not chafe but help the boys out of the line of fire.  So I went to Target and bought the brief that seems to have a pocket built for the boys.  So I got home put them on, and when my wife stopped laughing she said they were my superman undies.  The fact that they are blue, I opted to call them my Captain America Undies.  However, no matter what they are called they work great.  They keep the boys protected and they don't pinch or chafe.

It does not have to say Tri or Triathlon or Triathlete to be useful.  It could just say Hanes, or Jockey, or Fruit of the Loom.

I wear compression shorts for all sport activities.  To me the key to compression clothing is to buy it a size too small so it is extremely tight.  I was given this advise by our EQ guys in college and stuck with it.  Works very well for me and I feel "together" when I am wearing it

I have always worn starter compression shorts that i can pick up for 10 - 15 bucks at wal-mart or target, dont like to spend big money for a brand name like under armour or nike, dont think they make that much of a difference and i have been using starter for 2 yrs now and no problems..

I had been trying the swim jammer option as well, but still wasnt what I was looking for.... then I recently picked up a set of the Under Armour briefs (similar to "speedos")... they work best so far for this support purpose and are made of a durable, very breathable material.  I wear them under the jammers for whatever workout.
