Pre-race routine:

Up early (about 3 hours prior to gun time) Oatmeal w/ fruit, small Muscle Milk, and 2 bottles of water. Left in plenty of time to head to Mason and get good parking. Noted the 21F temp on the car dash on the way to the race, but saw the sun on the clear horizon...
Event warmup:

Event started at Mason HS, which was a good venue. Made a break for the bathrooms which, thankfully, didn't have too long of a line, but if the race gets bigger in the coming years, they will need other options. Walked around a bit to stay warm and stretched before heading outside to find a spot at the starting line.

Overall, a pretty good race effort, only a little off of my half PR from 2007. Some additional training and speed work will bring this down.

Course: Simple out and back route between Mason HS and the Pro Tennis Complex near King's Island. A little up and down in the park but not bad. The rest of the course was mostly flat. A good number of volunteers and fair amount of spectators given the small nature of this race. A few minor intersections (2 or 3) did not have volunteers or police directing traffic.
