Felt good at the start, perhaps a little too good. Not feeling sore from yesterday's bike event, at least at the start. Surprised to pass 1 mile in 6:07. Probably the single fastest mile I've run in years. Reality set in during the next mile, and it was a matter of hanging on as well as I could for the rest of the race. Reached 5k in 19:38, beating my recent flat 5k best from a week before. Towards the end I was feeling the dreaded calf cramps coming on, so that held me back from sprinting. Pretty pleased with the 40:xx clocking, though also a bit bummed that I was so close to cracking 40 minutes.

Nothing really. Many things could be better, but after a little over a month of run training, I'm thrilled to be going this well. Just 2 months ago I wouldn't have believed this possible.
