This has probably been discussed tirelessly here in the past, but I ride behind the 8-ball.

Planning my 2011 season now.  I have a HIM in late May and another in Early Sept.  I am using a plan that worked for me last year for my May race, so my question is what is the best way to continue training at a high level through the summer for my September race?  Starting the plan over doesn't seem like a rational idea.

What do you do to maintain fitness, speed and endurance when you have a long lag between same distance races?

Thanks BT!

I did my first two HIMs last summer.  They were 7 weeks apart.  After a week or two of recovery workouts, I just went back six weeks or so on my original plan.  It worked for me as I beat my first time by 30 mins.

After the first one get an OLY to HIM bridge 16 week plan. That brings your training down a couple notches but then ratchets it back up quickly.

I like this idea, will have to look into it, thanks Daniel!
