Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon : Official Thread

I'm in for the 5K on Friday and the half on Saturday. Third year of doing this. Was on target in training and then the opportunity came up to run the Disney Princess half end of next month - now training has been bumped way up.

I'm doing the full marathon. It'll be my first attempt at the distance. I started a training plan a couple weeks ago.

I was thinking about doing the same thing!!!

going to do the 5 and the half.  Have not officially started training.  Going to try the break 2:00 plan from runner's world which is a 10 week program. 

I'm in for the half.  Ran it last year and it's a nice course with great fan support.

5k Friday, Half Saturday, small local tri on Sunday.

I'm doing the 5K and the Full with a friend. Really looking forward to it! this was my first marathon last year

i am thinking of attempting the half but haven't signed up yet-- i have never run more than 6 miles so i am a little intimidated but have to cross it off my bucket list. I started training this week-----

Ann, go for it!!! You have plenty of time to train for the half 6 miles puts you at half way through, and with training, you'll do the other 6 with flying colors It's a nice race - very well organized (especially for being so new), lots of spectator support (though I can't remember if most of the residential parts were in the second 13 miles? ), flat course, nice shirt. Expo was lacking, but the race is nice.
It'll sell out at some point, but I'd just register now- your training will become very real the second you are in.

I committed and signed up for the half! I am excited!! and you are correct i feel as though i must get my miles in now cuz i have a real target. Thanks for the advice. Still feeling a little intimidated--13 miles blows my mind---what a challenge. C u there!!

This is a fun race.  It should be less congested this year with the staggered start times.  I hope it is not as humid this year, or if it is, that we have several humid days leading up to it so people can acclimate at least a little.

The race is next weekend......enjoy the taper everyone! A bunch of us are meeting at Murphy's after the race for a few cold ones. Good luck to all.

haven't heard from anyone here on this. How did everyone do? I was pretty happy. This was my first marathon. I ended up with a 3:44:42 finish!

Excellent job on a very crowded course. I'm not nearly as fast but I set a new PR of over 4 1/2 minutes over my last half just two months ago. I'm happy.
