I was in the process of purchasing a bike through a team discount and decided to look and see what was out there in the rest of the world. Long story short, after 2 weeks of researching and non-stop price scanning, I placed a "Best Offer" on a super low mileage, beautiful condition 2009 Specialized S-Works Tarmac SL2. The seller has a 9,000+ rating with 100% feedback. o_0 That was pretty much the icing on the cake for me.

We've emailed a bit back and forth and he's a genuinely nice guy and he accepted an offer on the very bottom side of reasonable. When the bike gets here, I'll let you know whether or not I'm an idiot!

Just more support on buying from high rated sellers on eBay. Have bought a BMW M5, Audi A3, and a Tiffany diamond solitaire ring worth more than the cars. Got great deals, but were powersellers with excellent feedback, who were willing to answer anything and everything.I am only 5'7" and was just fit to a med bike, even the fitter was a little surprised it was the right size. Really should get fit at a LBS or you may end up reselling the bike at a loss.Just saying. Best wishes!

Like other people said, that bike will probably end up going for more than the $600 it is at now, and may go up a lot in the last few minutes.  When buying a bike or anything off of ebay you really have to keep this in mind.  Don't get so attached to an item that you over pay for it.

One other thing. If it's a super good deal, you've just told a couple thousand other people who you may end up bidding against. Hey, you're not really the seller are you?

lol. no, im not the seller. and befor i posted the link the thought had crossed my mind about exposing the bike to other potential buyers.  i am actually in the process of getting my funds together (just sold my road bike the other day). but, it dosent seem like i will have enough by the time the auction ends.  more than anything i need advice  on how to go about buying a tri bike. everyone has posted great advice, particularly about getting fit for a bike, which is another reason why i will probably let this bike go.  when i am ready i will definetly post a WTB here on BT. in the meantime i think i will go get fitted. Wink
