The last Horror movie I saw at the theater was "Nightmare on Elm Street".  I wouldn't go in our basement (where the furnace was) for like 6 mos.  I hate scary movies.  I was scared when I went to see "Gremlins".

I do like Psychological thrillers though.  And I loved "Dead Again" and "Shattered."

'Hard Candy' with Ellen Page is really good...not so much as gory, but more psychological. Well acted and extremely creepy.

I recently saw 'Frozen' which is about 3 college students that get trapped on a ski lift after the ski resort closes down for the week. Hard to say if it fits in the horror genre, but I thought it was pretty good and different.

One of the most f'ed up horror movies I've seen recently is 'Dead Girl.' The subject matter is pretty warped, but I thought it was good and for a change something different than the typical slasher on the loose.

I have to agree with an earlier poster about 'The Last Exorcism.' Thought it was great and well acted until the ending.

Agreed. The last movie I saw that scared me was ... Poltergeist. In the theater when I was 7.

I'm not into gorefests so movies like Saw and Turistas and such don't do it for me. I did enjoy The Ring but thought The Grudge was stupid. I did go see a theater show, a horror, here in London recently that made you jump.

Your parents are cruel. Who takes a 7yo to see Poltergeist?

I remember as a kid that ET and Poltergeist came out around the same time and my mom almost took my brother and I to see Poltergeist and I was only 7. Luckily she chose ET. Of course, I ended up seeing Poltergeist on HBO when I was 8 and it scared me to death. I couldn't go near trees for the longest time.

I think what I'm really waiting for is a really good devil/exorcism/rampaging ghost movie. They seem to make a lot of them ("Lost Souls", "The Exorcism of Emily Rose", "The Last Exorcism", "An American Haunting", that Hillary Swank one) but they just seem to all be bad.

How about The Devils Advocate?

Saw it a long time ago but i seem to remember that it wasn't too bad.

Skeleton Key was a good movie...with some supernatural overtones...I really liked it.   Devil is also a pretty good movie.  Not Oscar material and a bit predictable, but still entertaining.

I don't go for hand held movies, so paranormal activity, was ok...didn't do it for me.  But husband loved it and says part II is good too.

I liked the Ring, both american and Japanese versions.

I am not sure what to classify Brotherhood of the Wolf (french film) but I love that movie.
