Subject: need help with plan adjustment
I'll try to make my long story short....

My 12 week Oly training program starts August 15 (I'm recovering from a fall this week).
My Oly is November 5.
I have a Sprint scheduled for Sept 17.
In the Oly training program, I have a Sprint length 3 sport work out on Sept 10th, 1 week too early.

My question is, what is the best way to shift my workouts so that I get my Sprint in on the 17th without ruining my 3 build week 1 recovery week system? (yes, it is a store bought plan, but I was too cheap to pay for constant advice....) THANKS!

without seeing the actual program, can you have a build 4 weeks (race on 4rth - get the 4rth build week from the next cycle), rest 1 week then only have a 2 week build + 1 rest and then the next cycle back to 3+1 per plan.

so your just swapping a build week from after race and adding it to before the rest week before your sprint.

so:

3+1 (month before race month)
4+1 (Race month +1 week)
2+1 (3weeks after race)
3+1 (back to normal)

your at the sprint length, so adding a 4rth build week prolly wont hurt ya...just make sure on the week before your sprin race u get rested or tapered...u may need it.

its less complicated in my head...i promise.

easy for you to say. I will sit down with my calendar and your numbers and see how to make it work. Thanks for your input, I know you are too busy here for my petty issues. I just dont want to screw up my builds and tapers, but I also don't want to screw up my mid plan Sprint.

I agree with Ron. Perhaps you can stretch your build portion out a bit to include an extra week, and then shorten it the next time so you stay on cycle.

Either that or just adjust your schedule a couple of days in either direction so that you're closer to your natural 3-1 schedule, but not exactly.

The beauty of training plans is that they're elastic and can shift to accommodate our Real Lives. Or at least they should be able to, with a little tinkering.

If you want, you can email me a sample of what you have and I'll play with it and see what I can come up with. Sometimes two heads are better than one. (and I won't hijack it I promise, as I'm already on a plan created by my BF).

i'm an idiot...i was thinking about this later....and found a very obvious simple solution.

essentially your sprint race day is at the end of your rest week...correct?  races are on sat or sunday, so your 'rest' week is really a glorified taper....u still have all week to rest....your race is at the end of your rest week...so do it then, and take it easy for the following first build week.

and about the 3 sport brick your program calls for a week before your race and the reset week, do it anyway, or shorten it...

your 'a' race is prolly the oly later correct?  so this sprint is more like another workout...treat it like a b or c race....go easy, it will transition perfectly into the build week on monday...

that is if i'm reading this all correct.   esp is not working well today (cloudy in ohio)
