Subject: Best kid/sport-friendly SUV
Our 1998 Mercury Mountaineer is dying and we will soon be in need of a new SUV.  I need one that can fit 2-3 carseats, a Burley or jogger stroller, and a large dog, often at the same time.  A third row seat would be nice...just in case we have more kids.  In addition, if by some miracle I am kidless for a few hours, I want to be able to throw my bike in the back and not mess with a hitch rack.  One note, my current SUV is a V-8 and I love the power.  I can't sacrifice the power.

What would you recommend?

Melanie, we just got a new Suburban with 2nd row bucket seats and removable 3rd row bench. It has a ton of room, good power and gets about 17-18 mpg. Not the most fuel efficient vehicle but if you need a lot of room, as we do sometimes, then it serves the purpose. We load it up with kids, bikes on the back, kayaks on the top, and off we go.
