Overall Rank = 4/60

Age Group Rank = 4/60
Pre-race routine:

Racked the bike, paid for entry, got marked, went to the bathroom 5 times.
Event warmup:

10 minutes to race start the director let us in the water.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 500 meters
  • / 100 meters
Comments:

The aquatic center is made of up of two very large swimming areas. We swam the perimeter of the larger swimming area. The water was very warm and I didn't bother to wear a wetsuit for such a short swim. We all waded into the swimming area, warmed up a bit and then it was off to the races. I wasn't positioned very well, but that didn't matter as it didn't take long for the good swimmers to seperate from the not-so-good swimmers.

What would you do differently?:

My sighting wasn't very good. This can only get better with experience.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

There were no individual section times. So I don't know how I did in any given area.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, seemed to go well overall.
Bike
  • 00m
  • 9.5 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

The bike route was well laid out. We basically biked around the dam area. My buddy got a flat about 200 yards in. He was bummed out. I was not ready yet for such a hard ride. One rider passed me and I passed two riders. So not too bad in my book.
What would you do differently?:

Train more, I hadn't put any serious bike training in since before California. All of my training has been running and swimming and I fealt it.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

Nothing to report. T2 was smooth. In both transitions I went sockless.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 00m
  • 2 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

This was the first time that I did a complete trail run. It was different. I let the guy that was about 20 meters behind catchup and then we talked for about a mile. After a mile he didn't have anymore gas in the tank, so I left him. Good hard run, I gained lots of ground on the guy in third, but still ended up about 100 yards behind.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of bike training.

Event comments:

The race was perfect for what it was. It was a low-key event that was close to home and only costed $25. It was the best race I've run. Great value to fun ratio. I really hope the race director makes it an annual event. He did a great job on a small budget.

No way! Little did I know that the guy I ran with for a mile was a fellow BTer. Should have known since you were so chatty.

Congrats on the strong finish.
