Overall Rank = 321/597
Age Group = F25-29
Age Group Rank = 11/23
Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:00, drove to race, breakfast was a pbj and coffee, set up transition area, drank accelerade right before race started
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 20m 2s
  • 880 yards
  • 02m 17s / 100 yards
Comments:

Very disappointed by this time! By far my worst event of the three. Kept looking up to make sure I was going in the right direction - that definitely slowed me down. Definitely need to work on my swim technique in the off season.
What would you do differently?:

Need to do more open water swims.
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Bike
  • 59m 56s
  • 19.5 miles
  • 19.52 mile/hr
Comments:

I got stuck in some groups where I was having difficulty passing because I would have had to have passed about 5 people at once - they were all going the same speed. Eventually able to pass though. At the end two people started walking their bikes right in front of me when I was trying to run with mine. I couldn't get by and didn't want to be rude and yell at them to move. But at least I made my goal of under 1 hour (just berely)!
Transition 2
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Moving kind of slowly for this transition, I kept thinking I was missing something (I was, I left my visor at home) so it took me a couple seconds to realize that.
What would you do differently?:

Not forget my visor!
Run
  • 25m 11s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 08m 07s  min/mile
Comments:

I don't think I've ever run a 5K that fast! All my recent run training has paid off - I was really happy with this result! I'm used to running all hills so this seemed really easy.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water and ate half a sandwich

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My swim! I don't think I need to check to make sure I'm going in the right direction quite as much as I did.

Event comments:

Great way to end the season! Will definitely do this race again next year!

Awesome job and excellent run!  It was a hot one out there!  You probably passed me while I was walking at some point on that run.

Nice race and great job on the run. Considering how hot and humid it was by the time we got to the run its even more impressive.
