Subject: Racing Shoe
I'm looking for a racing shoe and was wondering what you all like.  I'm used to a neutral shoe that is cushioning. I don't know if a racing shoe is cushioned, but if there is one out there that is satisfactory in this aspect, I would like to know.  I was looking at the Brooks T7 Racer and was hoping to get some feedback on this shoe.  Any shoe feedback is appreciated...thanks!

What do you wear now?

Last time I was "racing" (as in gunning for the overall) I was running in Nike Waffle Racers (cross country racing flats). I've heard good things about the Nike Zoom XC. More cushioning than the Waffle. Mizuno Wave Universe 3 is another possibility. Maybe even the New Balance Minimus Road.

Racing shoes tend to have very little cushioning. That's one of the reasons they're so light. You are not going to get the same kind of cushioning as in regular running shoes. That being said, the Brooks T7 does have some cushioning. Not very much, but some. I used a Brooks T racer for a few years for tris. My current shoe is Adidas Adizero Pro. I use that for my racing up to half marathons. If I was doing only tris, I would tri out the Zoot UltraSpeed.

The Saucony Kinvara is a nice shoe.  It is not a true racing flat, but it is neutral, reasonably light, and has some cushioning (more than a true flat, less than a 'traditional' shoe).  Could be just what you are looking for.
