Pre-race routine:

Up before the alarm, shower and shave, plain bagel with honey peanut butter, bottle of water, 2 cups of coffee... 79 mile drive!
Event warmup:

Light stretch, ran a half mile to warm up, talked with some fellow competitors!

Run faster... I learned that I could have pushed it harder!

Did my first flying mount... a little rough but manageable... more practice required. Happy with T1 though...

Had a problem getting left cleat to lock into pedal... was through T1 at that point but slow start on bike as a result!

Plan was to run at what ever pace the body would give me... both calves were slightly cramped at beginning but smoothed out with run.
What would you do differently?:

Run faster! I could have pushed the HR a bit but fell back into what felt comfortable...

Fluid Recovery drink, light stretching of hamstrings, banana and a beer!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Mental toughness to push myself to the edge!

My training on the hills of Prattville coupled with running and riding the course a couple of times certainly helped out tremendously.

Nice race!  Sorry I missed you out there.  I completely zoned out on a few things.  Hopefully you're doing Buster Britton?  If so, there will be a number of us there and we should all meet up.
