Subject: RE: Elaine's Spring 2011 Mentor Group - CLOSED!kjbuck2 - 2011-10-13 12:32 PM Hello group. Wanted to break the bad news. I am backing out of the half marathon this weekend. The last two months with moving and work, my training really took a back seat. So instead of driving back home and running, I am going to stay here in NC. I could probably finish it, but I think I would risk a chance at getting injured trying 13 miles, since I rarely hit 7 miles in the past 2 months. I do have a question that you guys might be able to answer. Have any of you have bike trainers? With the winters we get in Pa and I maybe in NC, I am sure there are going to be times that I would like to ride indoors. Anyone has any preferences or thoughts. Later. Smart move, Ken. There will always be half marathons, but you only get one set of legs ![](https://beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/images/emoticons/smile.gif) I ride a 1upUSA trainer. It's not the greatest, but it is simple, it was cheap (found it used!), and it works great. Check classifieds here and your local craigslist for deals. I find that I don't need anything fancier - like a computrainer or one with variable resistance. I vary resistance by shifting gears, and I've got some Spinervals. Sufferfest is good too. I will be attempting Jorge's Winter Cycling Plan. He posts it here. It hasn't started yet, but I can let you know when it does. It's highly recommended and FREE! You don't really need anything more than a trainer, but I recommend a heart rate moniter if you go that route. |
