Swim
Comments: This was my first race. Water was choppy because the weather was overcast and there was some wind. I had never done an open water swim before so I was in shock when I was hit by my first wave and got salt water into my mouth. I also never really learned how to site in the water so making sure I was on track was a little difficult but I got the hang of it after the first 5 mins and finished strong. What would you do differently?: draft more, learn to site better and breath more systematically. Transition 1
Comments: Being that this was my first ever Tri, I was exhausted when I got to T1 and my throat was really dry so I took my time to catch my breath, drank some water and calmed down. I took too long drying off and putting on shoes and socks and that is why my T1 time was so long. What would you do differently?: I have since learned how to set up my transition area so I will just transition more smoothly then I did before and not worry about trying to get myself completely dry before I hop on the bike Bike
What would you do differently?: bike shoes and prepare more for biking on the road instead of taking spin classes. Transition 2
Comments: Pretty simple transition here since I was already in my running shoes. Took a breath for about 15 seconds and a couple drinks of water and I was on my way What would you do differently?: Not much, try to get T2 time under 1 minute Run
Comments: Fun run on a great course What would you do differently?: Train more. I was definately tired at the end of the run and was cramping up in the legs. Post race
Warm down: walked, drank some water and had a whole wheat bagel. Talked to friends and other participants who were there. What limited your ability to perform faster: My inexperience and lack of over training. I think I underestimated how different training in the gym is than training in the elements. Event comments: This was my first ever triathlon and I had the best experience. Since this day I have been hooked on triathlon and have joined a local club to get better for next season. JSmultisport put on a well organized, fun and energetic race. They were very helpful with emails and clinics to help you prepare, post race food was good and swag was great too! very good value for your money and just a great event for first timers or veterans. Had a blast and will definately do another one of their races. Last updated: 2011-04-12 12:00 AM
