Overall Rank = 256/1160
Age Group = 20-25
Age Group Rank = 13/42
Pre-race routine:

Showed up to the race at 6AM, setup up my transition area. Had alot more room at this Tri for my stuff than my previous tri I did in July. Ate a cliff bar at 6:30. My wave did not start till 8:10.
Event warmup:

Mostly streching
Swim
  • 24m 26s
  • 1400 yards
  • 01m 45s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt really strong on the swim. I finished mid pack in 2 waves ahead of my starting wave. (I was wave 11, finihsed in wave 8).
What would you do differently?:

Preety textbook swim. Not much to do diffrentley
Transition 1
  • 02m 37s
Comments:

There was a long distance between the exit of the swim and the Transition area (about 200 meters). But once I got to my transition area everything went smoothly. My wetsuit did not bind up by the zipper like in practice, and my previous Tri. Hydrated.
What would you do differently?:

Start practicing getting on the bike better and up to speed.
Bike
  • 33m 55s
  • 9.32 miles
  • 16.49 mile/hr
Comments:

See course notes.
What would you do differently?:

Get up to speed quicker from the transition. And push myself on the downhills more, I still feel uncomfortable at high speeds.
Transition 2
  • 01m 41s
Comments:

Fairly smooth transition. No complications. Hydrated before the run.
Run
  • 28m 36s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 09m 12s  min/mile
Comments:

Better tri run than last time! I think I am a hill person. Was passing alot of people on the way up. I kept pushing myself up hill like my wife the ex-cross country runner said. I need to learn to go down hill though, and coast better.
What would you do differently?:

Learn to go down hill better.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of hydration, by the end of the tri the temperature increased to about 87-90degrees. Streching as well.

Event comments:

The race was nice, though they got allot of angry voulenteers who were really yelling at some of the participants. Not realizing that WE PAID MONEY to participate in this event.

Course: First 5 miles was ALL UP HILL. With one really killer hill, possibly a 20-30 percent grade, finishing off with a 40% grade. Even in my lowest gear it still felt really brutal. But I made the hill without dismounting, which was an accomplismhemt, others were dismounting.

Nice job, you beat me by over 8 minutes. I had to get off my bike on the steep hill, it was too much for me and your swim time was great. Good lick with any other tri's that you plan on doing.

Same to you.

Hey, there is some debate among my Team in Training team that the swim was 0.9 miles versus the 1Km (0.6) miles published. What do you think?

I know last year it was 1 Km exactly because the previous year it was shorter. I'm pretty sure that this was 1 Km because my last pool swim was 1100 yard in 24 minutes so about 1400 yards in 30 minutes would be the same pace. That's just what I think though.
