Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 4:15am and had bagel with fruit jam and OJ.
Event warmup:

Nothing
Swim
  • 09m 6s
  • 547 yards
  • 01s / 100 yards
Comments:

Felt strong during the swim and thought only a handful of folks were ahead of me, but my time reflects a different story. My garmin said it took 9:56, but my chip time is 9:06. If course wasn't long, then I am backsliding. Coach has me swimming easy pace long swims with no intervals.
What would you do differently?:

Swim Faster
Transition 1
  • 01m 38s
Comments:

Good improvements over last year
Bike
  • 42m 40s
  • 15 miles
  • 21.09 mile/hr
Comments:

Felt like i had to push harder than I expected to...again training has been a lot of base miles at low wattage.
What would you do differently?:

be faster
Transition 2
  • 01m 11s
Comments:

Smooth except for forgetting my garmin on my bike, which was an issue since RunFar screwed up the timing again.
What would you do differently?:

Not forget Garmin
Run
  • 24m 58s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 02s  min/mile
Comments:

Bested last year by over 2 minutes. Training is working here !!
What would you do differently?:

Be a little faster. Lost four positions in AG on the run.
Post race
Warm down:

Got a message and ate some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Slower than expected swim and bike

Event comments:

Swag was great, but Post race wasn't as good as last year. Only water and beer to drink afterwards...I like gatorade or coke. Run Far had me listed on the unofficial results as "unknown", so I filled out one of the correction slips and it looks like they got my name right. However, there are several females in my AG listing and my swim is wrong based upon my garmin, which is usually right on. Probably will have to repost adjusted times and rankings if they fix it.

Hi,

Any advice for a first time tri girl? I'm a runner not a swimmer, the swimming part has me freaked out, afraid I'll turn around and leave.... I'm working on endurance and not speed. Thinking about staying towards the edges. Got any tips?

Just let everyone in a rush go out before you.  I would then stay as close to the buoys as possible.  you don't want to swim extra distances.  Also, be prepared for a little bumping and don't let it set you off your goal of finishing.
