Overcast
Total Time = 2h 48m 4s
Overall Rank = 213/420
Age Group = M 45-49
Age Group Rank = 30/49
Pre-race routine:

Up before the alarm... shower and shave... bowl of oatmeal with honey peanut butter and a bottle of water... pretty standard!
Event warmup:

Light stretching... nervous stretching... transition setup!
Swim
  • 34m 57s
  • 1640 yards
  • 02m 08s / 100 yards
Comments:

Sighting was abysmal... I probably swam well over a mile given how out of position I got a couple of times!
What would you do differently?:

Better sighting... pair up with someone swimming at my speed!
Transition 1
  • 02m 13s
Comments:

VERY happy with T1 as this was my first wetsuit swim!
What would you do differently?:

Run entire way!
Bike
  • 1h 18m 23s
  • 25 miles
  • 19.14 mile/hr
Comments:

VERY happy with bike! Very controlled ride to get me to the run... Power meter cut out 1/2 mile into ride... so no data! Lots of people on the course made navigation easy!
What would you do differently?:

Ride faster!
Transition 2
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

VERY happy with T2... put on socks for run... no calf cramps which was nice!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing!
Run
  • 50m 35s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 08m 10s  min/mile
Comments:

FELT great... my best leg of the event...
What would you do differently?:

Run faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Recovery drink, calf stretches... watch other finishers!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor navigation on swim REALLY hurt me! Serious GI issues at mile 17 on bike did not help but worked through it!

Event comments:

Very happy with my first attempt at this distance!

Nice job. I did the race today as well.  Everyone I talked to said their swim time was slower than expected (me included).  Fun event and close for us Alabama folks.

Randy... we saw each other and didn't even know it... I recognize you from your photo... the swim really got me... my sighting was horrible which caused me to swim a lot further... congrats on your race!

Scott-just posted my RR.  I need to get some new tri gear...I look the same in every race picture.  Getting hard to tell which race is which.  Enjoy your Sunday.
