Pre-race routine:

Odwalla bar & coffee.
Event warmup:

Walk from parking to race. Some stretching before swim.
Swim
  • 09m 2s
  • 547 yards
  • 01m 39s / 100 yards
Comments:

I don't have my actual time - they lumped in swim, T1, bike and T2 but this is my time from this course Saturday. The beginning was a bit crowded and I was getting frustrated then I reminded myself they will gas out soon and it will open up, it did. I think I got 3rd but not sure.
What would you do differently?:

The beginning was rough but I worked really hard pulling the last half and sighted well. Just wish they had my actual swim time.
Transition 1
  • 02m 5s
Comments:

Good transition for me, ran the whole way.
What would you do differently?:

Got to site close to transition closing so hadn't walked from water to bike, took me a second to find my spot.
Bike
  • 38m 5s
  • 11 miles
  • 17.33 mile/hr
Comments:

I had a great time! This is the first time I've enjoyed a bike ride in a long time! Ken and Justin got bored Saturday and put the disk cover on my bike for giggles - I like it!
My power was good average 124 but the corners really messed with my avg. This was the first race where I passed more than I got passed.
What would you do differently?:

Get better at cornering, less coasting and breaking.
Transition 2
  • 01m 13s
Comments:

Plenty of room on the rack so when I came back it was easy to put my bike back, just hooked the seat, didn't have to worry about which way the bike was facing.
What would you do differently?:

Flying dismount? LOL
Run
  • 36m 13s
  • 3 miles
  • 12m 04s  min/mile
Comments:

Very nice run through the neighborhood, plenty of shade though all the mile markers were WAY off. Note to self, when you get to the really expensive houses it's time to kick it in!
What would you do differently?:

I forgot to turn my Garmin on before the race and it took a while to find satellites so my mileage was off. I thought it was .2 off but it turns out it was more like .5 off, I should have kicked it in sooner. This is my best tri run ever.
Even during the race I was saying to myself 'I will totally do this race next year.' Usually during a race I am thinking 'I want to die NOW' so this is a vast improvement.
Post race
Warm down:

Felt great! Pizza & Pepsi then hit IHOP with the gang.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I could have kicked the run in sooner I was afraid I'd run out of gas.

Event comments:

Timing continues to be the issue. In Houston it seems we only have one option and it's not a good one. I didn't need my time before I left the race but was disappointed they were lumped together once I got home.
