Subject: RE: Zipp 404 Max vs 808 Obviously the terrain you race/train in will have be a factor, so it your weight.
In general, I would say 404 will be the most versatile, combining low weight with aerodynamic properties without making them difficult to handle in cross winds.
The 808's are great wheels, but will be more sensitive to cross winds, plus obviously if you live in an area with lots of climbing, the extra weight will not be to your advantage.
1080's do have a small aerodynamic advantage compared to the 808's, but they also weigh quite a bit more. They're also not fun trying to handle in cross winds...
The perfect wheel package would be a pair of 404's with either a 808 or 1080 rear (or better yet, a disc )
Just a question, why are looking to use these wheels for both training and racing? |
