Pre-race routine:

Woke and had breakfast at 2:30 a.m. of peanut butter and oatmeal. Tried to go back to sleep but really never did. Got up at 3:45 to prepare for the day.
Event warmup:

Walking 0.8 miles to the swim start.
Swim
  • 1h 36m 6s
  • 3862 meters
  • 02m 29s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim was a slug fest the whole time. Once I made the mistake of following buoys instead of cutting a corner (legally) but felt like I swam straight.
What would you do differently?:

Get away from the buoys. I started in the rear but a lot of people entered the water after the start and caught me. I didn't want to be in the crowd but was.
Transition 1
  • 09m 28s
Comments:

Had to put my shoes on in the changing tent. Did not like that. Prefer to have my shoes on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing that I can control.
Bike
  • 6h 46m 30s
  • 112 miles
  • 16.53 mile/hr
Comments:

I felt really good on the bike. Got tired of it around mile 90. The overcast conditions really helped.
What would you do differently?:

I could've pushed more on the bike. I felt like I was holding back more than necessary.
Transition 2
  • 11m 50s
Comments:

Had to change in changing tent, so not much I could control.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Run
  • 6h 58m 17s
  • 26.2 miles
  • 15m 58s  min/mile
Comments:

My back spasmed on me, forcing me to walk the marathon. I had taken salt tablets on the bike to prep for heavy sweating that didn't happen on the run, so swelled up like a balloon. I had to make adjustments in my fluid intake to stop the swelling. Around mile 15 I tried to run again and my heart rate was going sky high immediately. My body had nothing more to give.
What would you do differently?:

Need to continue to improve my core strength. This is the 2nd time my back has caused running issues. Also, need to lose weight and run more. A foot injury (turf toe) had shut my running down toward the end of my training, so I am not surprised at how the day went.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around with family. No realy warm down at that point.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My surgery recovery.
