Pre-race routine:

I missed the online deadline so I got there by 8 to sign up.
Event warmup:

I had two hours to kill but the time passed pretty fast. I ran about 2k and stretched about 20 minutes before the start. I was a little nervous because I knew this was a big race and I've missed out on six months of running because of an injury. In the the back of my head I was worried that it would come back during this race
Run
  • 16m 5s
  • 4 kms
  • 04m 01s  min/km
Comments:

Not as fast as I'd like but still good. The six months off from running showed.
Transition 1
  • 00m 58s
Comments:

A little slow.
Bike
  • 50m 58s
  • 30 kms
  • 35.32 km/hr
Comments:

It was great. I've switched to a higher cadence this year and it's paid off. My fastest average speed during a race and a fairly hilly one. I did start to cramp up in my calves just like most of my races and I can't figure out why.
What would you do differently?:

I need to solve this calf cramp problem I get during most of my races.
Transition 2
  • 00m 38s
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 17m 10s
  • 4 kms
  • 04m 17s  min/km
Comments:

I always have a hard time on the last run so I had to push myself. I was only a minute or so slower then the first run but my overall and age group rank was better. The rain was nice and helped keep me cool but I could do without the wind.
What would you do differently?:

Just gotta run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretched a bit and ate and drank alot.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Time off from injuries

Event comments:

I gave everything I had during this race. The bike course is perfect for me and who knows how much better I coulda been if I didn't take the winter off from running.

Nice job! I watched the race and saw you come across the finish line. From your run/bike pace, it looks like you are ready for this season!

Any tri's this year or are you sticking to du's?
