Subject: Boise 70.3 water temp

My mother in law is coming in from Utah for the 70.3 and is worried about water temperature.  Does any know what the temperature is at Lucky peak right now or where I can find out.

I have heard from another participant that water temp is around 51.  It will need a lot of help to get to the 60 mark.

I'm worried about the swim myself. The lake is still much lower than normal, last I heard. I also heard the official water temp a few weeks ago was still 46. I'm not sure what the water temp cutoff is, but I hope we don't have to cut the swim short.

A friend swam in it last Sat morning....beyond cold!! No warmer than 50....got out after 400yds..hands so numb couldn't push button on key fob to open car door!!!

In my experience, that water will not warm up much as long as it is low...I haven't heard if they will have it full for the race....Tom

Just heard they have shut the tubes off and the lake is filling up...with some desent weather the water temp should be on the rise.....Tom

I'll start doing the dance for good weather. Long range forecast has rain for much of next week it looks like. Hoping that is wrong, and we get good weather for the race. I guess need to hope for some good weather for the week before so that water can warm up. That sounds COLD!

Low 50's last Monday...if we are real lucky it may be about 60 on Sat...I heard Veterans pond is colder than Clock Tower so for the rest of the week it may be a better place to acclimate.
