OK East coasters, how do you train for an OWS in the ocean with the current stinging jellyfish?  I have signed up for the Marineland Sprint in June, and can't get into the ocean to practice. Ideas??

Karen, which beach approach did you try? There is a group of triathletes that does weekend sbr training from cardinal approach (google map cardinal st., about 1 mile or so south of Granada) at the lifeguard station there @7am. It will be a small group there this weekend due to some ppl doing the pineapple man. If you are interested, I can send you my #  via message and you can text me. I dont know that I am going to work out with them tmrw, or at least I know for sure I am not cycling. Did you do the tri y last weekend? Didnt notice any jellys then but of course that can change any day.

No, I didn't do the Tri Y, thought about it...but got scared off by the jellies.  My daughter went surfing near the Frank Rendon park-and got stung, then I see the news and they say they are there.  I have not gone myself, guess I should just suck it up and go. I'd love to swim with the group! But I am slow, and only am dong sprint distances now. Perhaps I could swim with them next weekend.  Thanks! PS what is the pineapple man?

I did a short open water swim in Ormond yesterday and didnt notice any jellyfish. Was super choppy though. They will probably be working thier way up north though probably this weekend will be no good.

Most of the Jellyfish I have seen off the east coast of FL right now are Cannonball jellies. Cannonball's do not sting. Have you seen something else?

Thanks for the advice all, and link. I'm going to try today for an OWS near Ormond.  With the winds changing direction, the jellies are supposed to go back off shore. MIght get a bottle of the repelant just to be sure on race day.
