Sunny
Total Time = 1h 07m 47s
Overall Rank = 11/203
Age Group = 50-54
Age Group Rank = 1/11
Pre-race routine:

Usual. Drove to course, south from Salt Lake, picked up race packet and got transition area set up.
Event warmup:

Pre rode part of course, short easy run, and swam about 200 yards before my wave started.
Swim
  • 12m 52s
  • 800 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Got out quick the first ~200. 2 guys got off the front and one other I was swimming to the left of. Since we were going the same speed I decided to draft but his navigation was not to good, after only 50ish yards, so I went it alone the rest of the way and did not see him after that.
What would you do differently?:

Bring darker goggles because the sun was in your face the way out. Had to use the mountains in the back ground to guide at first. This worked really well.
Transition 1
  • 00m 32s
Comments:

Once into transition, was quick. Transition time was tied for the fastest of the day.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Bike
  • 32m 36s
  • 12.4 miles
  • 22.82 mile/hr
Comments:

Had a hard time getting into cycling mode. Much better the second loop. Felt like I could have done better but just was not my normal self for some reason. First race in a while so I guess to be expected.
What would you do differently?:

Keep power spikes down a bit more on hills.
Transition 2
  • 00m 30s
Comments:

Had a little trouble getting left foot out of shoe. Needed to get it out and on top of shoe before dismount line. So need to judge it better. Got helmet off and into shoes really well with 4th fastest T2 time by 3".
What would you do differently?:

Get feet on top of shoes sooneer.
Run
  • 21m 20s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 06m 53s  min/mile
Comments:

The way my legs felt I am ok with this run. Took a long time until I felt like I was actually running and not speed walking. Tried to not go out very hard and pay for it later. Got to feeling decent when I could stretch out on a downhill.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. For now my running is ok but need to get this a lot faster.
Post race
Warm down:

Walk, and some jogging.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Lack of racing and probably could use some shorter intervals in running.

Event comments:

Well run race that I will do again. Felt I did ok ending up 3rd AGer behind the Pro/Elites.
