Total Time = 1h 46m 42s
Overall Rank = 115/134
Age Group = 30-39
Age Group Rank = 32/32
Pre-race routine:

Breakfast consisted of oatmeal and an orange with a cup of coffee.
Event warmup:

Really no warm up which was probably a mistake.
Swim
  • 11m 50s
  • 437 yards
  • 02m 43s / 100 yards
Comments:

Really didn't care for the snake type course thru the pool. Was difficult at times to pass people and almost collided with another swimmer who was on the wrong side of the lane.
What would you do differently?:

Definetly need to relax more and work on technique. When I came out of the pool I was lightheaded and out of breath because I wasn't breathing properly while I was swimming. Overall I think my swim time was about what I figured it would be, around 11 mins., but defintly could have gone faster if I would have relaxed more.
Transition 1
  • 02m 49s
What would you do differently?:

Need to spend way less time in T1. I think getting a better bike with shoes already clipped on would help with saving some time. Also need to just throw a shirt on and go. Also seemed to take way too long to get my watch on and go.
Bike
  • 53m 27s
  • 13.5 miles
  • 15.15 mile/hr
Comments:

Probably pushed myself a little bit too hard on the bike but that was my plan. Didn't hydrate every 2 miles like I had planned but did take my energy gel at mile 10 like I planned.
What would you do differently?:

Can't think of anything I would do differently in this particular race but a bike upgrade with bike shoes is needed and will be coming this summer.
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

T2 was definetly better than T1. Legs felt like jello and couldn't really run off of bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 37m 5s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 55s  min/mile
Comments:

This is going to be my other big complaint of this race. One of the volunteers told me to make a right turn when I should have made a left and I ended up running a half mile down the road before I realized I was off the race course. This really screwed my run time majorly. Was partially my fault because I had a feeling she was leading me astray but I didn't take the time to take my ipod off and ask questions. Would have had a 5K finishing time under 30 mins but instead my run time was more like 35 mins. Really feel the course should have been marked better on the pavement though.
What would you do differently?:

Know the run route better. And take off my freakin ipod if I have a feeling I am being steered in the wrong direction I guess.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Really nothing. Really felt like I had a good race going until the run portion.
