Age Group Rank = 15/54
Pre-race routine:

Did not eat anything this time. Drank 1/2 cup of cold, shitty coffee from a gas station.
Event warmup:

Warm up consisted of setting up my transition area.
Swim
  • 10m 8s
  • 600 meters
  • 01m 40s / 100 meters
Comments:

Was able to keep calm this time. HR was 85 when I started, as opposed to 120 for the last race. I give all the credit to Haley. She talked to me and kept me calm.
What would you do differently?:

Swim a little faster.
Transition 1
  • 02m
Comments:

Time included a run up to T1. Actual time in T1 was :51. Tried to keep myself calm. I did a good job of that. Maybe speed it up next time. No socks. Not a problem on the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Move a little faster.
Bike
  • 36m 50s
  • 12.7 miles
  • 20.69 mile/hr
Comments:

Not much to say. Could have pushed a little faster, but after getting sick on last week's run, I held back a little. Kept yo-yoing with another guy(all3sports shirt) in my AG. He finished just ahead of me. More to follow...
What would you do differently?:

Push harder.
Transition 2
  • 01m 4s
Comments:

Not much to say. I saw the guy in the All3 shirt leave T2 just ahead of me.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 24m 9s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 07m 46s  min/mile
Comments:

The all3 guy took off like a rabbit out of T2. Oh well... I felt great during the run. I think I was smiling the whole time. I passed several people. About mile 1, I see all3 guy on the side of the path vomiting. I know I should not smile at anothers misfortune, but I did smile (just a little). Still feeling great at mile 1.5, I decided to kick it up a notch. Passed a few more people, no one had passed me yet. Then i hear a sonic boom and the all3 guy passes me like he was shot out of a cannon. I never see him again. That will teach me not to smile at someone else getting sick.

Much better run than last week.
What would you do differently?:

Haul ass as soon as I see the guy puking.
Post race
Warm down:

Got a massage. It was GREAT. I highly recommend taking advantage of free massages. Although it did feel like she was plucking every single hair out of my leg. Guess I need to shave!

Met up with Karl(motivated), Tom Plauche and his wife, Haley(tricomet), Tony Hammett (Tribesman),and Chrispin Henry (Cheryiv). Watched Karl and Haley collect hardware. I was great to see all the BTers! They are a great group of people.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

No athletic ability. Still learning how to race.

Man, great race!  It was good to see you out there.  After reading your race report, I'll never again laugh at someone puking.
