good size wave, started in front row just went out hard and eased into a smooth stoke. not a lot of bumping I stayed on the left. I keep drifting left and had to adjust. Swam a little conservative felt about 85%, it was a good swim where I wanted to be. Goal sub 8 minutes time 7:21
What would you do differently?:

not much maybe hammer a little more I should have been around 7 minutes

need to work on this, transitions are where I lost my age group win. I seem to be moving ok but I must pick it up. Wetsuit is taking me to long
What would you do differently?:

practice T1! I need to go out and swim with the wetsuit and without to see time differece I don't think I'm gaining much so I may ditch the wetsuit.

went out a little easy at the start, I have to remember it's a sprint and I need to hammer from the get go. The roads were rough and made it hard to get in a rhythm. I was passing a lot of people on the hills, but just could not get enough distance on the 2 guys in my age group Goal faster than last year 39:09, this year 38:28

push a little more I know I had more in me, also taper a little better to hard of a ride on Wed.

I'm not a trail runner, never run them so not sure how to approach this type of run. I tend to take short choppy steps. Never know where I'm at milage wise so I just had to run on feel. I ran the best I could since I have not focused on run this year I was fairly happy I imporved 1:30 on last years run
What would you do differently?:

run more and do some trail work

What limited your ability to perform faster:

a little tired from the weeks workout and poor T1 performance. Lost 1st in my age group by 25 seconds and was beat in T1 and T2 by 45 seconds.

Event comments:

This is a good race, the water is awesome, the bike can test you but is still fast, and the run is something different and keeps you focused. For me it's a great race to shake off the rust and start the year.
