Swim
Comments: Thought I felt strong in the water. Pushed hard and after the last buoy I was feeling it - hard to breath. I could feel the current pushing me and felt the water being pushed up my nose as I was swimming. Pushed on. Noticed lifeguards pulling a couple of people out of the water in front of me, swam around them (as did everyone else). What would you do differently?: Nothing. This weeks training in the pool was crazy and it's my peak week for Racine. A great combination of wetsuit/current/wading-wave start and I flew. I'll write this up as a crazy good thing as I'm not nearly this fast - ever. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: I didn't strip out of my suit as quickly as I could have, so my T1 time should have been about 20 seconds faster. I struggled getting my wetsuit into the transition bag. Bike
Comments: I killed it on this bike. Left it all out there! I pushed hard when I could. On the back side of the island the wind hit you in the face like a ton of bricks. Speed dropped considerably. But still, at 22 mph avg is great! Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Great transition for me! Run
Comments: I really had to wrap my head around the run. My body was tired but I knew that I was capable of a faster run than last week. I held a solid pace and after about a mile I started to feel better so I picked up the pace. I need to keep my mind on the finish and not about how winded I feel. I know my body can handle it, I just need to wrap my mind around it. (at least that's what the PHD told me last year at during the Vo2 testing...) Post race
Warm down: Rested and stretched. Found myself amazed when initial splits were posted! I had to analyze the data from my Garmin and compare all of my times together.... sure enough - the swim time was right. Craziness!!! Last updated: 2011-06-07 12:00 AM
