Looks like there is a couple nasty hills on the course according to their map.

Has anyone done the loop that is shown?  I know this is the first time for the half but from what I understand part of it is the OLY course.

Looking forward to this as it will be my first HIM.

That bad?! Great...

I'll be in Lake George on Friday and want to drive some of the course...I hadn't planned on driving the whole thing but after your comment I just might.

The hills aren't really that bad.  I've ridden it twice.  the big hill at the beginning is about 5 miles, but it's relatively gradual and not steep - you just gotta get into a rythym.  The rest of it is challenging rollers, and there is only one that is really bad that had me saying bad words - however, it's short and steep.  Over within a minute or so.  There are a decent amt of areas where you can get some speed going, and carry that speed.  Beautiful course though.  And completely different than the Oly course.  The oly course is nice rollers...Big George is def more difficult, but not terrible.

I have ridden and driven the bike course and it seemed challenging both ways. I ran the run course last week as well that seems a little more fair nice paths, uphills and a long down hill

It should be fun!!

Hello, fellow guinea pigs! I'm looking forward to doing the half next month! Thanks for all the updates on the course. Climbing hills aside for a moment, does anyone have an opinion on the condition of the roads? Potholes? Smooth sailing?

Roads are not terrible.  There is one section that is freshly paved and FAST!  Lasts a couple miles and is in the middle of the course.  I rode it before it was paved...and bumpy...like mountain biking ;P  But they paved it a few weeks ago.

The rest of the course is decent.  I think the only recollection I have of nasty road is that first climb out of Lake George.  It's a main road, and if you're all the way over to the right, it's OK, but if you need to pass someone, the road is a little tricky.  Otherwise, it's gonna be pretty smooth sailing.

Road the course this morning and enjoyed it!  I thought it had a couple challenging hills but other than that it's going to be pretty fast I think.

Just to note to everyone else there was a LOT of debris on the side of 9.

Anyone know what the parking situation is going to be like the morning of the race? I'm about an hour away and trying to sneak by without getting a hotel Saturday night.

Nevermind, I am definitely driving from home, everything nearby is a 2 night minimum and because I waited wayyyy too long (and forgot its a holiday weekend) most places are booked anyway. At least I'll get to sleep in my own bed the night before!

Also, I'm guessing about 14 times on the drive up I will look in the mirror and have a mini panic attack when I don't see my bike on the rack lol
