Holy Hannah!  I thought this was in 2 weeks - then I reread my registration confirmation and looked at the calendar.... it's NEXT WEEKEND?!?!?!  What the heck was I thinking?  I'm going to need to do some drafting off Foggy!

Done with Rochesterfest Tri and now onto Lake Waconia Tri. I can be spotted with Gopher Wheelmen orange and blue jersey. Hope to catch you all there. Smile

I'll be in my LunaChix kit, along with 2 other Chix racing that day.  We'll have a booth there as well with other teammates - be sure to stop by and pick up some Luna Bars

Well... you see my avi, you know what I look like! Laughing

See you at Waconia!

By the way, would you classify this as a long sprint or short Oly?

I would call it a sprint.  There is no set distance for sprints and this one falls within the typical sprint range.  Sure, it a little bit longer then some sprints but still a sprint.

To me, an oly is a specific distance so if it's not 1.5k swim, 40k bike, 10k run (or very, very close) then it's not an oly.

This will be our first time doing Waconia, looking forward to it!

How's the bike course? Easy or hard comparable to Liberty?

I hope I've mapped the 20-miles bike course correctly. From the look of elevation chart, it should be a fast route except the climb at the start.

A friend and I will be doing the bike course this afternoon after 4pm and then pick up the packet at Gear West. We'll start at the beach. If you have time, come and join us.

Can't get there tonight - but keep us updated on the bike.

Rode the bike course after picking up the packet. This course is not as easy as Buffalo and not way hard like Liberty and Rochester.
It's very deceiving from elevation chart. That little up hill to cementary is a grind but there are other grinds that don't show on the chart.
Watch for starting on CR10/Waconia Parkway, and good short hills on CR115 and CR92 that will take you out of your seats.
A good portion of CR10, CR30, Hwy25, Hwy7 are flat and great for time trial people.
If you do well at Tuesday Night Time Trial, you'll be very happy with your time.
But watch for short steep hills on CR115 and CR92 before returning to park.
Looking at last time average speed, everyone was having good day on bike.

Just discovered this site and thread tonight. Good luck everybody!

This is my second time doing the Waconia tri, just trying not to be last... The course is much easier than the Liberty Tri. The lake is notorious for large waves but last year it was very calm and the weather for tomorrow is supposed to be calm I believe.

Right now it is showing south easterly winds at 6-8 kts for Waconia tomorrow morning.  That is a good direction to atleast keep the chop down (offshore wind for the swim)

Glad to meet BT'ers out at the race. I didn't meet my goal of 1:58. Came in 2:01. I have plenty of excuses but I won't blame them. I don't know how but I have a poor sighting skill.

After the 2nd turn and passed the first orange buoy, the next is almost home but it's so far away. I kept on swimming thinking that's the one I have to get too. I've found myself swimming alone and no bubles around me. Here I thought I've passed them up and one the way in. Just to make sure my assumption is correct I popped up to look. OMG! I'm almost in the center of route! I can't believe I've gone off course that bad. Man talking about wasting minutes. That was the worst off course I've done. Just sick.

BTW, I now call Foggy the BEAST! You can see roads cracking when he runs...hahahehehe...

I was about 2 or 3 minutes behind you xman. This event was my first ever tri last and I went from 2:19ish to about 2:04. Last year  did the same thing as you on the swim; that's no fun. Now I look up far more frequently but still end up off course some times. Maybe I'll run in to some of you next year. Good luck the rest of the season!
