Overcast
Total Time = 1h 12m 5s
Overall Rank = 26/179
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 6/16
Pre-race routine:

Ate some cereal, drank water
Event warmup:

Did a small amount of jogging, got in the water for a couple minutes. Walked transition as well.
Swim
  • 07m 2s
  • 580 yards
  • 01m 13s / 100 yards
Comments:

Could tell it was my first time in the wetsuit and open water so far this year. Never felt comfortable, no panic, just not confident. I was glad to hear a lot of other people say the swim was a little hectic.
What would you do differently?:

Get in the open water before my first race.
Transition 1
  • 01m 59s
Comments:

Little slow getting suit off, but not as bad as the fist time last year. Stayed relaxed though and just got it done.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 37m 7s
  • 12 miles
  • 19.40 mile/hr
Comments:

This course suits my abilities I think. False flats and a few punchy hills. Felt bulky legs the first couple miles and then things started to open up. Kicked it hard after the turnaround and passed a lot of people.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, except quit my job and ride more.
Transition 2
  • 01m 1s
Comments:

One bobble getting my running shoes on, but besides that no complaints.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Run
  • 24m 57s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 01s  min/mile
Comments:

Started off a little slower than I usually do to not burn my matches. I new my friend Dave was coming up from behind and tried to stay in front. He passed me just past the half way point. Tried to hang with him, but blew a little the last km.
What would you do differently?:

Just need to get in that 4th day of running more consistently.
Post race
Warm down:

Drank water, walked around a little.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

full time job, family, house...the stuff I don't mind that makes me slow now.

Event comments:

Eastman is a well put together and fun race that is good to start my tri season with.

Great race - I think I saw you in a few spots.  If you do this one again next year we'll have to meet up.  Lot's of fast people this year!
