Total Time = 5h 37m 18s
Overall Rank = 126/505
Age Group = 25-29
Age Group Rank = 3/18
Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:15am, ate pb&j sandwich and a banana. Got to transition around 5:20.
Event warmup:

No warm up. Warm up in my book is the first 15 minutes of the swim.
Swim
  • 34m 17s
  • 2112 yards
  • 01m 37s / 100 yards
Comments:

Pool time pays off.
What would you do differently?:

Start at the front.
Transition 1
  • 02m 31s
Comments:

Pretty standard transition
Bike
  • 2h 51m 57s
  • 56 miles
  • 19.54 mile/hr
Comments:

Enjoyed riding on the backroads. Made the mistake of wearing my favorite old tri shorts that split right at the crotch about halfway through. Was paranoid for the last 20 miles or so. Turned out not to be a huge deal though.
What would you do differently?:

Maybe get a tri bike one day...
Transition 2
  • 04m 6s
Comments:

Took my sweet time. Sat down and ate a banana. Reapplied sunscreen.
What would you do differently?:

I'd like to say not take all the time in the world, but it was a good recharger for the run.
Run
  • 2h 04m 29s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 30s  min/mile
Comments:

Nice relatively flat course. Had trouble with the heat though. Allowed myself to walk at the aid stations for 30-45 seconds and then run until the next one.
What would you do differently?:

Try and only walk 10-15 seconds at each aid station. Or not walk at all...yea right.
Post race
Event comments:

This is a fun laid back race. Liked listening to the band and watching others come in. Would recommend this to anyone thinking about it. Great volunteers!!

Nice job - maybe I should take some swim lessons from you!

The heat did start to get brutal around midday!

Good race! I agree you should start up front with that swim time. I often take the outside front and almost never get snagged.

Congrats on super race!

Course is great and I'm fortunate to be able to ride down there often.

Fun to meet you and all the BTers at Friday night dinner.
