Pre-race routine:

Arrived late. Just enough time to set up and hit the restrooms.
Event warmup:

nope.
Swim
  • 16m 54s
  • 880 yards
  • 01m 55s / 100 yards
Comments:

Started very near the end of the line for the time trial start. Felt like I was having a much better swim than I did for SpeedyFeet#2. But really only 16 seconds faster. Probably felt better because I was actually passing a few others and only 1 guy passed me in the water. I'm still a crappy swimmer, but I'm happy with the slight improvement. I felt very comfortable in the open water. Overall a nice final outdoor practice swim for Muncie 70.3 in a week or so.
Transition 1
  • 01m 29s
Comments:

Long run from the water to transition included in T1. I wonder if the timing mats were in the same spot as last time. I think T1 times were down overall. It could mean that my swim included more of the run than it did last time.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Just had the bike in too high a gear to start.
Bike
  • 57m 33s

  • 21.89 mile/hr
Comments:

Almost identical bike split this time around. Nice consistent moderate effort the whole ride.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.
Transition 2
  • 00m 35s
Comments:

Smooth transition. Finally no problems racking the bike.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Comments:

Good run. Took a water bottle along. Water station at the start of each lap. Good consistent effort and negative splits.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.

Event comments:

Second time at this race. 1:40 faster this time. A great time for $12. It's nice to break up the weekly routine. And a good way to judge progress since it's the same course each time. Hoping to make it again for race#4.

What an awesome idea. How many of these are there over the course of the summer?

Your times are great. Good job.

Thanks! There are 5 races spread out every 2 or 3 weeks over the summer. #4 is 7/20/11 and #5 is 8/2/11. They (speedyfeet) also do a 10 mile time trial series on Thursday nights in Casstown, too.
