Anybody doing this one?

Rode the bike course the other day. More climbing in the front end and mostly descent in the back.

I think registration is now at, what, $200? For an Oly?

I am doing it - will be my second Olympic distance tri - even though I almost choked at the price.  All I have to say is there better be some good swag in that bag!

I got a $50 off ticket through the RnR Marathon so the price was not so bad.
Though I choked when I say the price as well.

I wanted to do an Olympic and it is the only one within my schedule that worked in July.

I considered doing it until I saw the price. At the time, I think registration was $160, which would have been a third race on lake Sammamish this year. It was too steep for me.

I'm doing it. My first oly so I am excited. Yeah it is a bit expensive but it should be a fun event.

My boyfriend and I are in.  Considered doing something in Chelan (same weekend), but taking a day off work and a car/hotel made TriRock easier, even with the higher race fee.  But I'm excited, it should be well done.  We just rode the course today (albeit in the wrong direction).  Should be a fast one!

No way.   To me $200 for an Olympic is a total ripoff.  Opted for Chelanman instead ($60).  With the price difference you can pay the hotel and gas plus have a great time in Chelan.

Moving over to the tri events after several marathons... this is my 1st olympic, training is much more intense for 3 events, running was much easier than this...yikes!

I have to say this was a well-run event - good day overall aside from the weather.

The wooden-box style individual bike racks were really nice.  Wish more races would use those.

Looks like turn out was pretty awful... 300-350 for a "big-time" event?

I agree the wooden boxes were nice. I had plenty of room in my box to store my stuff. I didn't mind the weather too much seeing as it only drizzled a little bit. I had a blast, this being my first olympic distance. If I learned anything form this it is that I have to put in a lot more training before my next event.

May be the $160-200 entry fee had something to do with that.

Then again, it was competing with Warrior Dash, which I heard had somewhere close to 26,000 entries over the two days.

I thought the race was well run, and the wooden boxes were excellent. No jockeying for space on the metal racks they normally use.

The band on a boat was a bit over the top considering I didn't hear anything while I was swimming. I suppose for the spectators it was cool though.

The weather wasn't a factor.

I planned to do this race....then I saw the price!  No way.  I went to Chelan instead and had a great day ($60 bucks vs. $200).  They had 2300 athletes in the combined events (Half-Iron, Olympic, Spring, 10K).

That makes more sense for where you live (Chelan for me = easily 70 bucks on gas alone).
