probably went to hard on the run based on my current training. Ran the flats and downhills as much as possible. walked 90% of the uphills. Was pretty much all by myself after a half mile into the run.
What would you do differently?:

go out easier

shoes and hat off. helmet, gloves and bike shoes on. got to the mount line as quick as I could.

took it easy for the 1st mile just trying to recover from the run. Tried to push a little more to take advantage of the gradual downhill. Got passed my a lot of riders from the tri and passed a couple of people from the du at about the half way point. Took 1 drink about a mile in and didn't drink again until after the turnaround.

a lot of walking. was passed by the 1 guy in my age group with about 1.25 miles to go. Repassed him just after the water station with a mile to go. Tried to get as much separation as I could but he caught me with .25 mile left. I started walking to recover at that point to try for one final push. Started it a little to late and ended up 13 seconds behind him.

more bricks in training
