Pre-race routine:

Panic! Not really but I did forget to get my Recovery Rockstar and G2. The kids brought those when they came. We were camping and so my pre-race was a little left of center and disorganized.
Event warmup:

Run in place; stretch; Got in the water to acclimate to the lake temps.
Swim
  • 13m 10s
  • 440 yards
  • 02m 59s / 100 yards
Comments:

Good sighting but almost went too far around the second bouy. Not sure why my arm felt so tired; the guy where I rented it said that it was an older suit and the newer ones are made with more flexibility for movement.
What would you do differently?:

Really, it has to do with training, more consistent more focused...more everything.
Transition 1
  • 05m 10s
Comments:

Looks like a long T time but the distance from the lake to the transition area and from the tranisition area to the bike out are a pretty good distance. Even running in sand with the bike on the way out!
What would you do differently?:

Think transition went pretty well. I was out of my suit faily quickly and even put socks on for the bike ride which I usually forgo to save minutes.
Bike
  • 47m 23s
  • 6 miles
  • 7.60 mile/hr
Comments:

I will work on this hill more often now that I know I can do it.
What would you do differently?:

Bike hills more often...they seemed so out of reach before but now that I know I can complete hills I need to head out of town and add hills to my training.
Transition 2
  • 01m 46s
Comments:

This went fairly smoothly. Should remember to take my helmet off while running with the bike to the rack. Otherwise it was good.
What would you do differently?:

Take my helmet off while running to the bike rack.
Run
  • 21m 18s
  • 2 miles
  • 10m 39s  min/mile
Comments:

Hills felt like mountains and I walked up the hills. I let gravity do its thing on the way back. Wished I didn't feel the need to walk.
What would you do differently?:

Again...it comes down to training. My watch had a different time, and of course I would not mention this if it weren't shorter, my watch was 19:42 with my first mile at 10:10 and my second at 9:32.
Post race
Warm down:

A little stretching

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Training...what can I say, isn't it always training?
This was a challenging race for me because of the hill but I have over come that and can now train harder and stronger because I know I can. The best part was seeing my grandson there when I came off the bike. His cute little two year old face saying go Grandma!

Event comments:

The race was fun but that's always my main goal...have fun!

For some reason my right arm was so tired. My guess is that my wetsuit was not bunched up or not fitting well because the arm felt restricted. My left arem felt fine.

Awesome job, Cynthia!  I'm going to "preview" the hills (some of them are apparently "named") for my Aug race this Saturday - this inspires me to have fun & stick it out while doing that!
