I thought I read about a half marathon last year in the Texas forums New Years Eve or New Years Day. The only thing I can remember is that they medal they gave out was really cool but I can't remember the location of the race. Any ideas? Not having any luck with the search engine.

Nevermind. I think it's the one in Allen which is too far and would require a hotel stay Frown

kingwood?  Or maybe not.  this year they will give out pink pigs with you finish position on it.

Thanks Patrick. Kingwood may be the best option. My son has raised 2 pigs so we have a soft spot for them..... bacon Laughing

There is the Texas (Kingwood) Marathon Half & Full) on January 1. Sadly it is sold out (did so in April).
You contact the RD , Steve Boone and get on waiting list,
He is very good about letting everyone know status. There is a half only in La Ports in early December

Wow, thats a bummer. Here I thought I had found a solution to the half marathon considering there is no chance at the Houston race. Early December really isn't an option for me, doing Oil Man in November and think I will need some time to recover and get back to it. I was hoping this would be my motivation to keep running through December.

I recommend the Mardi Gras Half in Galveston (February). It was fun.

Its too bad December doesn't work, RunGirl is an awesome race, I did it last year as my first 1/2 and will be back again this year even though I am doing the Houston full, I HAVE to fit it into my schedule.

A little later, but there's the USA Fit 1/2 at the end of January and the Galveston 1/2 February 5th (did this one last year too and loved it)

College Station has the Armadillo Dash in March. I did it in 2010, good race; check my RR for details.

If March isn't later than you were hoping for, there's the Woodlands half/full on March 3rd.

And if you do this you don't have to train through the holidays if you don't want to.

Great job! My husband did this race this year and oh my, was it humid! I was only spectating and I was miserable! But you never know what the weather is going to bring this time of year.

The Woodlands race might be one to check out. It would give me enough recovery time before Kemah.

x2 on RunGirl.  Weather was awesome and the leaves were turning.  Absolutely BEAUTIFUL race.  If I was still living in Houston I'd do this again in a heart beat.  Jana always has good swag too.
