Hopefully I am going during the 'off' season since the stampede is over...

Does anyone know the best way to see Banff and the glaciers?

I'd give you more information, but I really don't know much.
- Looking to do a tour within 5 days,
- So I would fly to Calgary, then drive to banff and the glaciers.

Thanks !!!!!!

Just yourself? Hiking? Shopping?

You could wonder around Banff one morning. Head to lake louise for a bit.

Hotsprings--nice drive to Radium--much better then Banff hot springs. marble canyon, paint pots and parker ridge(icefields) are a few hikes.

Drive through golden then field.

If you have the dough there are a few nice places to stay there-emerald lake lodge and cathedral.

There is takakkaw falls

Head north up the hiway to columbia ice fields and Jasper. From jasper head west a bit to hit Mt Robson then head back Jasper to Edmonton(west edmonton mall to shop)

This just a small sampling...

good luck and have fun!

No Way!! I was vacationing in the Kootenay's last year and passed on the opportunity to drive right by Yoho park. Instead I took the less pleasing route through Grand Forks. I did, however, feel like I took a time warp a la 'Back to the Future 3.'

I have been to the West Edmonton mall, but my wife hasn't. I wouldn't mind going again.

And all these places to go hiking make me really anxious.

Thanks so much for your ideas. You'll never hear anything like "no hotspring is as good as Radium," from anyone other than a local. Radium.... didn't Marie Curie and her husband die of Radium poisoning??
