Cutting and pasting from FB. Meeting is Sunday 5-8pm at the Chuy's at 290 & highway 6.

CALLING ALL NW HOUSTON TRIATHLETES!! We have a huge triathlon community in Northwest Houston and no local training group so...a group of local triathletes (including a USAT-certified coach) is hosting a charter meeting. The meeting will be informal and we will discuss the club name, mission statement, various board positions, uniforms and other roles within the club. Please RSVP by Saturday, July 23 so that we can arrange enough seating for all attendees: 713-269-9814 or [email protected] Spread the word!!

I am on-call this weekend but am getting a little tired of always riding and running by myself, so if someone could relay the contents of the meeting I would appreciate it.  I live about 45 minutes from 290 / 6 so this may work for me.  Also posted this so you could maybe mention others that would have interest that do not attend the meeting.

Thanks

Quick points for anyone interested...

We more or less went over the mission/reasons for the club and some basic bylaw type stuff and introduced the clubs' current regime.  30+ folks in attendance.

The next meeting is in three weeks (August 14th) @ Chuy's @ 5pm.

The most important thing right now is a club name.  We'd love some suggestions.

I might be the only one of the hosts that is a somewhat regular poster on BT and not a lurker.  Props go to David & Lorrie for really making this a reality.  David and I have chatted about the club for the last year or so.  He just took the ball and ran with it.

Did we get a chance to meet last night?  I was a bit anti-social because I had been traveling for the last two weeks and have been wiped out and not feeling well.  I was also keeping an eye on my six year old boy to make sure he didn't disappear.  He was the blonde haired boy running around like a maniac with the blue Star Wars shirt.  I hope he wasn't too much of a PITA. Cool

I got to talk to about 9 or 10 folks, but I don't think I spoke to you.  I'll see ya at the next meeting.  I'm really quite hyped about this since I'm fairly new to the sport and none of my existing circle of friends really "get" this.  Oh and kids don't phase me.  I have 2 girls who are 4 yrs old and 2 yrs old.  Boys are a refreshing change really.

I haven't completed my first tri yet, but I have started training and would like more information about the group. Hope to attend the next meeting in August. I really like the idea of having a group right here in the Fairfield area.

As Keri said, go to our Facebook page for info.  Eventually we want a full functioning website and all that but for now it's the Social Network.

I am glad you posted here after seeing your post on the Bridgeland thread. Look us up on Facebook - Cypress Triathlon Club, look for us at Bridgeland and the next meeting is August 14 at the Chuy's on 290 and highway 6, it would be great to meet you.

As Keri said, come on out.  I'd like to have someone greener than me in the club.  LOL.

Finally a club in Cypress, this is great.  It's such a pain to drive into town or elsewhere to meet up for a group ride.  Thanks.

I am excited about finding this group!  I am just now getting back into tris after a long hiatus.  Will I see anyone this weekend at Bridgeland (my first back since 2002)?

Yep, quite a few from the group are doing the race since it's in our backyard. I know there has been some talk about the team having a tent but not sure what kind of signage there will be.

Think we'll have homemade signage (IE middle school girls painting on butcher paper type of stuff)

That was the plan as of last night.

Wow I just saw this!!! Too cool.  Definately needed a Tri club out here.  Where do you join!  Count me in for sure.  Would like to meet folks at the tri this weekend.   I have seen lots of runners and bikers out in our area these last couple of weeks.
