Comments: I got caught up in the start and went a little faster than normal, even after telling myself to hold back and keep my pace. What I didn't realize was that EVERYBODY around me was going way too fast and saw people blowing up at the 1mile mark. My time at one mile was a sub 8min. I NEVER run a sub 8. I knew I had to ease off or I was walking to the finish. Kept my cadence well and it helped on the way back. Hit the wall at the 2.5mile mark (see taking off too quickly) but was able to keep my rhythm and finish okay. Still, I did better than I thought I would. My first goal was to beat my last 5k time of 30minutes. Second goal was to come in at 27min. Happy to say I acheived both goals. New PR! What would you do differently?: Train more, keep some in reserve for a stronger finish. Post race
Warm down: Drank lots of water. Walked around. What limited your ability to perform faster: Not enough training. Last updated: 2011-07-22 12:00 AM

No real routine. Got up at 5:30, put on my running gear (shorts, shoes, shirt, and knee strap) and ate a peanut butter and banana sandwich. Headed out the door at 6:00am to pick-up my race packet and look for coffee. I never found the coffee :_-(
Not that I needed to warm-up. It was already in the 80s at 6am! 72% Humidity and a heat index in the 90s. Lovely. Jogged a little but that's about it.
