So i'm going up to Lake Placid for Ironman next year 2012. I'm trying to find a place to stay. Does anyone know of a nice place that doesn't have a 5 night minimum??
Any suggestions of where to stay?

How about a 7 night minimum? It's not 5.

Most places close to town will have minimums. Last year we stayed at the Cascade Inn (the motel at the first bike aid station). They had no minimum and it was $75 a night. Of course, it's a $40 a night roadside motel usually. It was ok; not horrible, not great, but it was ok for us as we were volunteering and didn't need to be close to town. This year I was racing and we stayed at Schulte's but they have a 5 night minimum. Again, it was ok; not great but not horrible, but it was only a mile from town and sits right on the bike and run course. They were $105 a night for a cabin with a kitchen (but no AC). Motel rooms (with AC) were cheaper.

Woodlake Inn is a pretty good place. Still 5 night minimum but at 1/2 the cost of most other places. It's only a few minute walk to town.
