are they still doing construction in this area? Just wanted to know if I can use this path to go between the two parks yet.

I Did a couple of laps at Kensington this morning and it's still closed between ILRA and Kensington.

According to a post on FB made by the Metroparks they say that MDOT will reopen it by 6pm Friday.

I was at Island Lake this morning. They had a sign posted that it was open on the weekends but closed M-F for now.
