Pre-race routine:

woke up at 4:00am for hour drive out, got to race site at 5:35. Had transition set up by 5:50. It was misting on and off all morning so I went back to my car for a nap and to stay warm and dry. Got out there too early.
Event warmup:

Thought about going for a run to check out part of the bike course but I didn't want to get my shoes wet and muddy. I did do a short swim warm up. The race started 30 min late so when I got out of the water after my warm up I had to stand around for 30 min in the rain.

Had a hard time starting out really crowded. End up standing up a few times to get around folks. As usual I went out too fast and had problems breathing.
What would you do differently?:

Not go out so fast, maybe start back farther or in the front.

Keep covers on shoes because of mud which ment I had to stop to take them off, did that pretty slow. Dedicde not to wear socks on bike due to rain so I had to rearrange T1. It was raining out so I had a cover over everything in T1 which slowed it down a bit but worth it!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing except speed up a little.

Rained hard once I got on the bike. Was passed by pros on my first lap, their second. Took it easy in a couple areas with puddles but overall felt good. Felt like I went out too strong but I was able to keep it up.

Drink more on the bike.

I biked without socks so I had to put them on in T2 but first I had to dry my feet off (they got soaked during the bike). Again everything in transition area was covered with a bag so it slowed down T2.
What would you do differently?:

Should have spread out transition area more things felt a little cramped but I had enough space.

Run first mile a little slower so I can pick it up more on mile 3.

None. It was raining and I was cooling off. Once I could get bike out I left.

Event comments:

They did a great job. The rain ruined the post race party.
