Subject: Public Tracks near Madison?
Whizzzzzz and I will be up in Madison this weekend for the MOWS.  I've got a track workout to do as well, and looking for any leads on open to the public running tracks in/around Madison.  In the vicinity of the Monona Terrace area as that's where we'll be staying.
Running on Sunday AM, if that makes a difference.

We're staying over Saturday night after the MOWS, and I'd rather run *before* we sit in the car for 2 hours to drive back to FIB-land.

Thanks,
-Chris

I don't know about Madison's schools if they gate their tracks (I know the UW does), but, if you like, I can meet you in our town (give you directions and everything) which is 20 - 22 miles East of MadTown, and then you can shower and such at my house (3 miles from the school).  I'd even join you for a lap.  PM me.

Last I knew the LaFollete track is locked. I use the old Madison East HS cinder track.

I'm pretty sure the Edgewood track is locked as well.

Middleton HS has a great track that I think was just redone. It's open to the public but HS football might be having practice on the field.

They have to give the kids a day off, and if I am not mistaken, it has to be Sunday.  SO - if M iddleton is not locked - you should be fine. I I believe Stoughton High School is accessible also.  I have climbed the low fence before - but I guess it is open on the back side.  It was re-done last summer.   I can't run with you, but I could tell you how to get there.  It is on the way back to FIB land if you go through Rockford...

Madison West has an open track, but it's cinder (if that matters). Probably ~2miles from the terrace.

McFarland HS track is open to the public.  Due south of Madison on Hwy 51, not very far.  Take a left at the second set of traffic lights (Culver's on the corner).  HS is about 3 blocks off of 51 on your right.  The track is directly behind the HS.

We're actually right off 51, so this is a winner.

Thanks for all the replies!
