I would be interested in any comments and helpful hints on the Pumpkinman LONG course.

I could help you with Maine, not so much for Nevada.

I did Pumpkinman Vegas last year and I'm signed up again for this year. Swim in Lake Mead is spectacular. Water is clear and clean, temp was comfortable for me with a full sleave wetsuit. Lots of swimmers without wetsuits. Single loop swim with lots of room and little contact. This course is all about the bike. An out and back around Lake Mead that ends up in Boulder city. (2 separate transitions). Great scenery. All rollers, nothing flat, and plan on wind. Road surface is very smooth and fast. Final 8 miles are a slow slog from Lake Mead up into Boulder City. Run course is mostly flat. Two out and backs mostly through neighborhoods. Who;e event is very well run.

See you there!

Thank you for the info. Bike is my weakness, so I'll be hitting the hills over the next 5-6 weeks. Is it really 7,000 ft of climbing or am I reading that wrong? If I average 21.5 on the flat, where would you put my bike average on this race?
